Shipyard boss Geert Wijma himself doesn't quite know how to describe his youngest child and where to categorise it. In fact, the extremely versatile and versatile concept is difficult to categorise. The term "sporty small cruiser" would probably best describe the overall package. Small, light, trailerable and interesting for both beginners and ambitious regatta sailors, the Pointer 22 can build interesting conceptual bridges. Only completed a few days ago, the prototype, construction number one, is now on display as a world first at the Interboot trade fair in Friedrichshafen.
As the little sister of the Pointer 25 (test in YACHT 6/2015), the new boat from Jachtwerf Heeg comes with a swivelling ballast centreboard weighing 180 kilograms. The fin has a stainless steel core and is profiled in a mould. And, the centreboard can be completely retracted into the hull. For this purpose, the two aluminium rudder blades are located in rudder heads attached at the rear and can be pulled up with a flick of the wrist. This allows the sailors on the Pointer 22 to reduce the draught from a maximum of 1.10 metres to just 30 centimetres. This means that the Dutchwoman, which weighs just 750 kilograms when ready to sail, can be easily transported on the trailer and also slipped over any ramp. A crane for launching and retrieving the boat is unnecessary. The Selden aluminium mast on the cabin superstructure can also be raised by hand using a hinge at the base of the mast. A jibing device would also be available as an option.
Ambitious sports sailors can also order Peter Boosgraaf's design with a carbon fibre rig and laminate sails. A gennaker or a furling code zero are also available. The additional sails are attached to a fixed stainless steel bowsprit with water stay. For those who like to sail alone, the Pointer 22 is also available with a self-tacking jib.
A simple extension below deck allows up to four people to spend the night on the boat. A small galley module with a refrigerator compartment and a chemical toilet are available as extras. Customers also have a free choice of styling and colours on and below deck. An outboard motor (petrol or electric) or an electric pod drive (installed with Saildrive) are available for motorisation. The basic version of the small Pointer costs 32,000 euros, including 19% VAT.
The versatile and exciting Pointer 22 can be seen until Sunday, 1 October at the Interboot trade fair in Friedrichshafen, Hall A1, Stand 303
